Charlie told a counselor he could not see his mother because her parents "are Mormon and they abuse her," and later told a counselor, "Mormons are trying to steal me." He also told the counselor that he "wanted to kill (a classmate) because he is Mormon and they kill people; they are ordered to kill people and all scientists who believe in Jesus," according to child welfare documents.
A family services report dated Oct. 26, 2011, noted that Charlie had made comments such as, "My grandparents are evil," and "I know my grandparents are trying to keep me from seeing my dad."

The comforter tested positive for blood, although it has not been announced if it was a mathc for Susan's blood. He allegedly took the kids camping about 120 miles from their home. I've known Josh for a year now and we have spoken many times. Josh doesn't show any of the traits I've read about in people involved in their spouse's disappearance. He's not living some false live, no girl on the side, no money problems outside he's underpaid at work.

In their effort to convince the world that Josh "spun a web of lies" about the day Susan disappeared, they reiterated a laundry list of circumstances, no doubt intended to be suspicious in some vague, undefined way. Perhaps the most emblematic of these circumstances is the police's claim that they found a sofa that appeared to have just been cleaned when they searched Josh's residence in 2009.
This piece of "evidence" is its own counterargument. The police have been making the same claim about that couch for over two years now, leaving the public to wonder whether the police have conducted any forensic tests on it to see whether it actually contained any bodily fluids or other evidence of interest. If the couch had contained blood, the police would have included that in Sanders' affidavit; and if there was nothing on it, then there's no longer any reason for the police to bring it up because there's no effective way to get blood out of a fabric couch well enough to hide it from investigators. Instead, the WVCPD has continued to float this couch story, hoping all the while that nobody would ask any questions about why it is still relevant.
By the way, the police want us to think that the recently cleaned carpet on the living room floor is also really suspicious, but have expressed absolutely no interest in the carpet cleaning machine that they took as evidence from Josh's house.

In the affidavit used by Pierce County Detective Gary Sanders to obtain the August 25th search warrant on the Powell home, Sanders claims, "Blood evidence was located on the tile floor next to the carpet adjacent to the sofa. Forensic tests of this blood indicated it was Susan Powell's" (Sanders' affidavit, PDF page 15). Then later in the very same document, Sanders claims that in an interview conducted the day after Susan disappeared, "C. P. advised during this forensic interview that his mommy went camping with them although she did not come back home with them and he did not know why" (PDF page 17). (We'll just ignore for now the fact that the police here were backtracking from earlier statements they had made that Charlie had recounted the events of the camping trip just as Josh had described them.) So apparently the police's theory about what happened to Susan goes something along these lines:
1. Josh kills Susan and gets her blood on the tile floor in the living room.
2. Susan recovers enough to go camping with Josh and the boys later in the evening.
3. Susan disappears and doesn't come home from the camping trip.
How are the police going to convince anybody that Josh was spinning a "web of lies" when they didn't even bother to use any common sense when they were making up their own web of lies?

He claimed the reasons for the last minute camping trip was test out a new generator. He claims he didn't show up for work Monday because he thought it was Sunday. He allegedly took the kids camping about 120 miles from their home. Police searched the area and found no sign of Susan, but fresh snow covered any indication that someone had been camping there... it's hard to believe a dad would take kids ages 1 and 4 camping in the middle of the night, especially when temperatures are falling to below zero in the area. Were there any calls from Josh to his Dad that night or morning? Was his Dad at work the day of the 7th? I would imagine LE has the answers to these questions - I would hope so anyway. (sorry if this has already been discussed)

I just mapped WVC, UT to Steven P's house in Puyallup and takes between 14.5 - 18.5 hours to drive there. Here's a thought - did Josh drive 1/2 way and meet his Dad, who then took Susan's body to dispose of?

This was only 5 months after he and Susan were married. Wonder if this has anything to do with their property management jobs. He might have been part of the maintenance crew too. Wonder what type of trouble he got himself into that time? Who is Dana A Lewis? Attorney?

In order to attempt to prove why he should not be evicted, Josh obtained declarations from the people listed in an attempt to persuade the judge the plaintiff/landlord was not within his rights to evict Josh Powell, et all.
When an Unlawful Detainer petition is granted, a move out date is ordered by the court. EDIT: I see the 10/01/2001: Uncontested Resolution at the very top. That is puzzling!
And he apparently tried to contest the eviction after the move out order which was denied. If any other resolution had been reached, the motions would have been granted and it would have been noted that the case Unlawful Detainer case was dismissed.

A motion for reconsideration? Who in Josh's family is the legal adviser? It looks like he fought and got everyone involved and pretty much stretched his case of eviction as far as he could, exercising his rights. Since he didn't have rent money, it seems to me someone else had to be coaching him.

For those who are short of patience in this case and wonder what's going on behind the scenes, this should explain a lot. This kind of guy would still be filing legal arguments five minutes before execution if the case were cut and dried and there were nothing to argue. They are saving the taxpayers a lot of extra court time, if they really nail it dead on the first time.

Cans of gasoline were found in Josh's van after his camping trip. Cans of gasoline were used to burn down the house where he cornered and used a hatchet on his own boys. And somebody used gasoline to burn a mine that was announced to be searched for Susan's body in June 2010.

Salt Lake City resident Wayne Hamberg, one of Josh Powell's friends, has said Josh and Susan Powell had problems like any other couple, but Hamburg never saw any signs of domestic violence or other serious issues.

The fact that I've not read an interview published by Isabelle containing quotes from him leads me to deduct this is who made that statement!

The West Valley City Police did call Wayne Hamberg on February 1, 2010 and asked him to be down at police headquarters the following morning, February 2, 2010, at 08:30 AM!
I know this to be a fact because he posted this on the wall of the susan powell part 2 Facebook group and I saved a pdf file of the wall.

Josh may have returned to WVC in the morning according to rumors, so I've revised my ideas considerably and think he didn't go so far away.
If Wayne Hamberg is the person Isabelle spoke with, and Josh was indeed in West Valley City at 5:00 AM, perhaps he dropped by Wayne Hamberg's house! How else would he know Josh was in West Valley City at 5:00 AM?

The reason I chose him is because Isabelle [zehnder?] has interviewed and published articles about Jovanna Owings, Debbie Caldwell, Kirsii Hellewell, Chuck Cox and about every other "major player" in this case EXCEPT for Wayne Hamberg and I simply cannot fathom her NOT trying to get an interview from Wayne, unless it was Tim Peterson but I doubt that because he so freely spoke with the Salt Lake Tribune and KSL.
Wayne (same computer group Wayne Hamberg who comes forward to defend josh dec 19) * I've spoken to Josh many times outside his van after a user group meeting. Don't think there is GPS on his van. * Josh does have a cell as he has called me many times. Cell phone records are the first thing they track and would have been reported. * Josh doesn't have a girlfriend that I know of. I have seen Josh at user group meetings over the past several months and he spends most of the time talking to us guys. * I doubt there is any insurance policy. Josh is in his 20s.
I've known Josh for a year now and we have spoken many times. Josh doesn't show any of the traits I've read about in people involved in their spouse's disappearance. He's not living some false live, no girl on the side, no money problems outside he's underpaid at work.
Josh is a good guy so quit speculating about this and let the police do their work. WVPD are good group of guys and will figure this out.

Now who do we know in this case that takes cans of gasoline with him when he is taking his boys on a camping trip, or murdering them in his own house? The December 15th Salt Lake Tribune story about alleged marital discord within the Powell household has now been picked up by KSL Channel 5.
Rachel Marini, one of the people who reportedly urged Susan Powell to
get a divorce after Josh became too controlling, has been interviewed by
KSL. In one instance, Marini said after a road trip with the Powells
she became so disgusted with the way Josh treated Susan that she didn't
want to have anything to do with him anymore, but she kept in contact

Mark Hacking, who confessed to the murder of his wife to his brothers, was sentenced to 6 years to life in prison, the maximum sentence that could be imposed at that time.

Obviously, Chuck Cox screwed up a kind-of-important detail: minivans don't have trunks.
In an even tackier development, the Coxes' attorney Steve Downing gave a conflicting account. He claimed it was the older son, not the younger one, who made the comment, and that he had made the comment recently while in the Coxes' care. The Cox attorney was trying to argue that the boys "were beginning to verbalize more," presumably in an effort to justify their amateur questioning sessions with the children.
But considering that the Coxes and their attorney couldn't get their basic vehicle facts or their story straight, the only thing the children's comments are evidence of is the kind of coaching and brainwashing the kids were subjected to by the Coxes and their followers.

Nice try, but if you have actually been following the Stephen Koecher case you would know that although his passport was originally missing and there was a theory that he went to Brazil, the passport has since been found and there is no evidence to show he left the country. Further, there have been tips from people in the neighborhood where he went missing that points to suspicious people living close to where he left his car. There is also evidence that he went to that part of town for his business. It is common belief that he might have walked in on and witnessed illegal activity and was possibly killed. There is absolutely no record, to include phone and email that shows Susan and Stephen knew each other. This is nothing but a fabrication created by Josh and his dad to focus attention away from themselves.

Utah woman says she saw Powell, father in mountains before Susan disappeared
PUYALLUP, Wash. —
A Utah woman said she saw Josh Powell and his father, Steven, in the mountains three months before Powell’s wife, Susan Cox Powell, was reported missing.She told KTVX-TV they were in the Topaz Mountains and that they were not looking for crystals. The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said the two were not dressed for the outdoors.
“They were not friendly at all. It was obvious they had their agenda and everyone else be damned. Their behavior was so out-of-the-ordinary,” she said.
The two were in the same area investigators searched last summer and uncovered a shallow grave.
